private calls

June 27, 2008

i like getting a surprise call from a friend every now and then but not if it’s labeled “Private”. most of the time, it’ll be banks trying to sell you a sub-product. i’m not against any direct-selling, but callers should be at least transparent by revealing their numbers.

some banks in the collection department also bar their numbers from showing on customers’ phones. but there is a setback to this. if 80% of customers are like me - who are not fazed by private callers - then they will have to work doubly hard 80% harder to collect funds

i mean… what if the call becomes a missed call? how to call back?

sometimes, i get unknown numbers calling me (some even sending me sms asking me to subscribe to a number) and i won’t pick it up but instead will call back from my office phone - which does not appear as ‘Private’ on mobile, btw.

several days ago i received an sms from an unknown number belonging to an ‘albert’ who asked if he could buy me a drink. i thought for a few days trying to figure out who this albert was. it couldn’t be that guy i gave my number to? he’s indian and his name wasn’t albert.

so ‘albert’ sms-ed me last nite asking why i was silent. today i apologised and told him i don’t remember him. then he sms-ed again to describe who he was:

“Terrible… Albert… Tall… Dutch… Lasik… Want to marry you…”

aiseymen… my naughty lasik patient pulak. silaka… sepa suruh tukar no. h/p?? no wonder la it’s been raining lately. Albert is our first Caucasian Lasik patient at Optimax KK. and he’s VERY NAUGHTY + CHEEKY + FUNNY!! we had this “pact/deal” that i would marry him on a sunny day :P he had us in stitches in 2005 when he came. he even scared the hell out of our nurse when he told her that he had gone to a pub the day he had Lasik. comedy humour - probably just his way to overcome fear/anxiety.

surprisingly, every time he visits KK (he’s a tour agent for dutch travelers to malaysia) it rains. so, no hope la kawin dia hahahahaha!!! funny guy :)

tell me if i need to go for additional english lessons or if the responder (2nd pic) had misunderstood me.

msg with yes/no question:

an ideal answer would be any of the following:

YES - yes, sunyap is ok with the date chg/yes, pertama hung it at the correct location or

NO - no, sunyap is not ok with the chg/no, pertama did not hang it at the correct location or

a combination of any statement. but what i got was this:

what did the last 2 lines had to do with my yes/no questions? the ideal question for this reply would be:

how long has the banner been up? is jef available? make sure you call jef about the banner!!

last line added for drama effect heheh… i was really surprised by the “nw wat else can i do?” line. i had wanted to view it as a “is there anything else i can do for you?” statement but it sounded as if the sms-er was very frustrated that i had asked about work beyond working hours (see time stamp)

i’m sorry dear, but if you were in my shoes, work hours have no boundary. maybe you were angry that it was my job but i had delegated it to you while i was away because i trusted your capabilities (your reply has proven i was wrong). or maybe you were having a super bad day that day, hence the insensitivity. don’t worry, i won’t label you as immature like you labeled me. you called me a gender-less person. how mature is that? everyone knows your maturity level, and i share their view. you need serious help.
